Managing Mathematically is a different kind of book for students studying quantitative methods in universities and polytechnics and those who find themselves required to develop a mathematical perspective in their job or profession.
The book concentrates on problems: their identification, clarification, classification and the different approaches which can be used to solve them. Such an approach sees the mathematical formulation of a problem arising naturally from its verbal description and as such it clarifies the problem and causes it to be refined in the light of data already avalaible and data which might be collected. Eventually experience of possible mathematical models leads to a discuccion about the problems of taking and making informed decisions.

The final section of the book tackles the problem students have with examination questions set at the end of courses on quantitative methods.
