The new editon of this popular training book reflects some of the changes that have occurred in the last few years in the training field. Specifically, the book has been revised to reflect more current thinking in the field of "task analysis," along with a few other modifications. There is more emphasis on the significance of training to overcome specific performance "deficiencies," as well as new insights into techniques for getting a better handle on the "evaluation" of the training we have done.

The most noticeable change, again reflecting the times, is the addition of a new chapter entitled "Training for Upward Mobility." In the few short years since this book was first written, there has developed a greater interest in not only training people to do the job they are now asked to do, but in moving them upward in the organization through improved training methods. This chapter gives the supervisor first-hand information on the best ways to produce good results in this kind of training.
