The interest by industrialist in Operational Research appeared to be based upon faith and expectation rather than upon experience. The present version of the book is an attempt to resolve the dilemma, the need for a more detailed exposition of Operational Research Techniques for the purposes of student teaching has necessitated a more mathematical, and hence more sophisticated approach to the subject.
