The book gradually built up a list of related bibliographies. In this process th writer began to realize that bibliographic work in the traditional sense may be becoming obsolete. Librarians, with a few prominent exceptions, also do not seem to know the costs of various components of their vital library services, whether these be the cost of continuing their current manual cataloguing and bibliographic retrieval methods or the possible savings to be achieved by automating these and other services.
