The purpose of this book is to introduce to engineers and others, who have responsibility for decision-making in the general area of equipment maintenance, the potential benefits which can accrue to an organization by an examintaion of maintenance problems from an Operational Research viewpoint. Operational Research is concerned, to a large degree, with the construction of mathematical models of problem situation whereby alterantive actions can be assessed, and the best identified.
